USING FOCAL POINTS IN ABSTRACT PAINTING with Andi Simpson
The focal point of a piece of art is the main thing that you want the viewer to see or understand. Everything else becomes a supporting character visually. In this workshop we will review 5 of the common examples of creating focal points in your abstract art. We will explore techniques and brush over classic composition.
Not every design needs a focal point. We often use all over pattern to enhance, provide depth and texture. But if you are trying to communicate an idea or want a resting place for the eye you will want to create focal points. One of the best ways to understand focal points is to look for them in your everyday surroundings. The workshop will consist of demonstrations, creating samples of each technique, and short critiques. The workshop is open to all levels of painting. Students will be working with acrylic paint.
TUITION: $150 MEM / $175 NON-MEM
