Nature Journaling Workshop with Van Pafchek
Explore nature journaling and learn methods of scientific illustration by drawing from a collection of natural history specimens. The collection provided will include preserved insects, flowers, bones, feathers, seed pods, fossils, minerals, anatomical models and more. This workshop will be an open studio wherein attendees can draw as many or as few specimens as they choose—along with group and individual guidance, demos, and explanations. Magnifying glasses will be provided to those who wish to use them, and attendees are encouraged to bring in any natural objects they wish to draw.
Materials that allow for detail are preferred—including graphite, watercolors, colored pencils, gouache, charcoal pencils, or pen and ink. Graphite pencils and an eraser are ideal to have in addition to any of those listed above. Student are welcome to work in sketchbooks, journals or larger sheets of paper. All levels welcome.
TUITION: $175 MEM / $200 NON-MEM
