DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS with Van Pafchek Wednesday's 1-4PM (beginner-intermediate)
Are you interested in learning how to draw, but unsure where to start? Are you a more experienced artist looking to get back to the basics and refine your skills? Drawing is a fundamental skill for any artist, but it can be a difficult process to navigate. This course will provide you with the tools necessary to move forward in your drawing journey with confidence and a greater sense of intention in your art. We will demonstrate and explore the methods of sighting, contours, value and shading as well as the elements of composition. Class time will consist of still life drawing, demos, and explanations, as well as group and critiques.

SUPPLY LIST:
Bring materials of your choosing for drawing and sketching. Items to consider include the following:
Pencils, pastel, conté, charcoal, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylics, oils, gouache, collage materials, digital media, etc.
Range of Graphite Pencils OR Vine Charcoal & Compressed Charcoal (having both of these types of charcoal would be ideal)
Kneaded eraser and standard eraser
Pencil sharpener or crafting knife
Any paper that is compatible with one’s chosen materials (watercolor paper if using watercolor)
(Optional, for gesture drawing: vine charcoal and newsprint paper)
(If Using Pencil) 14 x 17” or 18 x 24” Strathmore 400 series or Canson equivalent, white
(If Using Charcoal) 14 x 17” or 18 x 24” Charcoal or pastel paper, white
