In this relaxed upbeat workshop you will learn how to see the depth of color and create a unique and personally expressive landscape painting or (subject of your choice). Susan is skilled in all mediums but will focus her demonstrations in this 2-Day workshop on pastel and oil painting, using watercolor and acrylic as underpaintings. Whether you work in pastel, oil, watercolor or the acrylic medium, you will learn how to use the color wheel to discover how to use expressive color to capture the essence of mood and atmosphere in sky, water, and more.
Susan's fifty years of plein air and studio painting will lead you to your personal color expression in the medium of your choice. Each day will begin with a short inspiring demonstration focusing on methods that will aid in color expression. The use of underpainting and color mixing will be explored in both pastel and oil. “Thumbnail Sketches” and their importance in supporting strong compositions and values within color, will help you “Target Focus” on what inspires you in the landscape or subject of your choice. There will be personal time at your easel following each morning demo, with support and attention given at each artist’s easel.
