EXPLORING ABSTRACT ART with Andi Simpson, Wednesday's 6-9pm.
Abstraction in painting allows the artist to communicate in often personal and impactful ways. Designed for all levels of experience with acrylic paint, this class pushes you out of your comfort zone and into a brand new, loose, abstract sketch painting, drawing and collaging. Through demonstrations, discussions about art history, critiques, and in-class painting, this class deconstructs modern and contemporary themes as you work to develop a unique voice in your paintings. Topics include: expressive painting techniques, color exploration, composition strength, depth, movement, abstraction from life, detachment, and paint application.
Beginners are welcome. Andi is an experienced instructor and works with a variety of mediums, including acrylics, inks, and oils. She considers her art to be abstract and her work exhibits an ethereal sense of warmth, light, and love but also elicits the sensitive chaos found in nature. Her paintings begin with a foundation comprised of multiple layers of color and a variety of textures. Building from that background she allows intuition to guide her. Defined shapes and forms present themselves organically as the piece progresses. Join Andi in this class to learn, explore and enhance your skills!
Painting is her own personal solution to her own personal problem, or a question that lives inside her. She expresses herself and feels grateful if a piece resonates with someone.
