Sue continued to grow and learn art forms at York College of PA, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. As an artist, she continues to learn techniques from other artists such as David J. Rogers, Bianca Rosen, and Bradley Hendershot, who have influenced the shaping of her own unique style. Her goal is to share her enthusiasm and joy for the arts while encouraging students to learn something new every day. She believes that all students are capable of learning to draw and paint with patience and practice. She is a proud member of the York Art Association.

Art and creation has always been an integral part of my life. I began creating early on as a necessary form of self expression, creating costumes, portraits, illustrations – anything that was required to enrich my life experience and promote whimsy in the everyday. Becoming an art educator has contributed even further, providing a space in which I can support students of all ages in pursuing their whimsy and passion for creation. My own art is inspired by nature and humans, particularly people from the past. Photography from the 1800-1900’s fascinates me and presents a ghostlike portrait that presents a different facet of identity that I enjoy exploring in my own work. I’ve continued themes of nature and figures in my ceramic works, investigating the uncanny valley in both functional and decorative ceramic pieces. My most recent work has expanded into sola wood flower creation, working to bring wedding day dreams to life. I’ve continued expanding in my art education outside of Public School as well, teaching at Creative York, The York Art Association, Creatives on King, through Arts in Residence (Cultural Alliance), as well as my own business, Reptile Smiles. Combining animal advocates and art creation has been a powerful teaching tool that inspires students of all ages to create unhindered. Finally, I’ve stepped into the role of Curator at Creatives on King, working to advocate for, empower, and guide artists in their journey in the creation and sale of their work.

YESENIA "JESSIE" GROFT began her artistic journey as a child, often drawing alongside her father as he created beautiful oil paintings. Her love for painting was rekindled several years ago while attending a paint night with friends.

What began as a simple hobby developed into a motivating passion. As an artist, Jessie continues to hone in her style and technique. She learned techniques through tried and true methods, such as the Charles Bargue drawing course and sight-size.

As an instructor, she seeks to enthusiastically share her heartfelt belief that we all can learn to draw and paint to some degree – it just takes time to patiently learn and practice. She teaches her students to be willing to try new things and not to fear failure.

Her favorite mediums are charcoal on paper and acrylic on stretched or wooden canvas.
She is a proud member of the York Art Association where she teaches youth classes.

This unique tween/teen art camp, led by professional artist Annelise Vuono, offers an exceptional opportunity for young creatives ages 12-18. Participants will explore the design process, learning how to plan and execute a large-scale mural to be displayed in a public space.

Throughout the camp, students will collaborate to bring Annelise's conceptualized design to life, applying their artistic skills to each stage of the project. Working together in the studio, these aspiring artists will gain hands-on experience with all phases of mural creation, from initial sketches to the final finishes. This immersive experience promises to inspire creativity, teamwork, and a sense of accomplishment, all while contributing to a meaningful public art project.

*The location and theme for this year's mural are currently being finalized, so more details on this exciting opportunity will be shared soon.

*For safety and weather-related reasons, mural construction and painting will take place at YAA, with the mural to be installed at its designated location at a later date.

SUPPLIES: All supplies included. Students should dress for the mess and bring a packed lunch for camp.

Here is our mural from last year's camp!

Annelise’s style is characterized by figurative elements within abstract environments. Her paintings in particular feature strong color schemes and an emotional presence. Originally based out of Central Pennsylvania, Annelise is the daughter of an art educator and designer. She began drawing at a young age finding inspiration from fantasy films, music, graphic novels, and nature. Later, she graduated with a BFA from Pennsylvania College of Art and Design. Annelise has been working for years in various visual art fields and participates in gallery showings yearly. Her work has been published in books and magazines, and featured among athletic and fashion venues. In addition to creating art, Annelise has a passion for community involvement, including volunteering, educating, and raising awareness for the arts.
