    POETIC CREATIONS (JAN 19 - MAR 2)

    Pre-registration is required for this exhibition. To enter, first read the prospectus, click on REGISTER, follow the prompts on the screen to sign in, and enter your artwork information. You must "check out" and pay for each registered piece. Unpaid registrations are voided after 15 minutes.

    DESCRIPTION
    This exhibition is all about artists exploring how one can merge a poetic verse and a work of visual art. Good poetry contains language that evokes a visual scene in your mind as you read it. If you’re not a fan of poetry, use this as an opportunity to acquaint yourself with this form of artistic literature and perhaps expose another source of inspiration for your creativity. Song lyrics, Biblical Psalms, classic poetry, or your OWN written poem are potential sources. 

    Not sure where to begin your search for poetry? Try an online search for: Haiku, Sonnet, Odes, Limerick, Hafiz, Maya Angelou, Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickenson, Elizabeth Browning,  Old Testament Psalms.

    THE CALL: 
    Anyone may enter up to 2 pieces of art which can be inspired from the same poem or a different one. Part of your registration will involve uploading your poem that is less than one page in length, along with the title and source of the excerpt. If your poetic verse is longer than a page, please edit it down to the most important sentences or phrases which support your art. This text will be formatted and displayed beside your work. This exhibition is limited to 100 submissions.

    Prior to registering, please review: YAA ARTIST TERMS AND CONDITIONS for compliance standards and guidelines for acceptance into York Art Association exhibitions. 

    AWARDS: First: $250, Second: $200, Third: $150

    NOV 4 Call Opens

    JAN 6 Call Closes @ 2PM (or when intake limit is reached)

    JAN 13 Intake of Registered Works 2-6PM 

    JAN 19 Opening Reception 2-4PM (awards @ 2:30, free to public)

    MAR 2 Pickup of unsold works, 4-4:30PM 

    MAR 3 Pickup of unsold works, 10-2PM 


    INTAKE:

    • Work(s) are hand delivered and signed in by Artist (or Artist’s representative)

    • Work(s) are dry, securely framed or have finished edges.

    • Work(s) are ready to hang, prepared with braided hanging wire.

    • ID/Intake Tags will be printed for you.

    • Please arrive during the scheduled times when our volunteers are able to accept your entries properly.

    • Due to insurance reasons, we are unable to accept works outside of the scheduled pick up times.


    PICKUP:

    • If you are unable to pick up your art on pick up days, please have a friend retrieve your pieces for you during these designated times.  

    • Art not retrieved is not insured and will not be held. All efforts to contact artist will be made, but art will not be stored if artist fails to pick up.

    The SALLY LITTLE DANYO MEMBERS' SALES GALLERY is located at the front of the Nancy M. Woodward Gallery and provides a venue for YAA members to display and sell their original artwork.

    If you would like to be considered for an exhibit at the Members' Gallery, please follow this Request to Exhibit link for more information about the process and to apply for consideration.

    The deadline to request an exhibition for the following calendar year is May 1st. 

    This gallery is named for a member who made significant contributions of their time and talent to the York Art Association.

    SPRING MEMBERS' EXHIBITION (MAR 9 - APR 20)

    Pre-registration is required for this exhibition. To enter, first read the prospectus, click on REGISTER, follow the prompts on the screen to sign in, and enter your artwork information. You must "check out" and pay for each registered piece. Unpaid registrations are voided after 15 minutes.

    DESCRIPTION: Our annual Spring Members' Exhibition offers YAA members a chance to showcase their art alongside their peers. This YAA members only exhibit is not themed, so works of any genre and medium are welcome! (If you are not a member and would like to participate you can join our group of amazing artists and art lovers by going to: JOIN US, to initiate your membership.)

    THE CALL: Members are invited to enter up to 2 pieces of art during the call. Artists may register as either professional or non-professional. (Learn more about these distinctions in our guidelines linked below) Registrations are non-refundable and extra registrations will not be accepted. This exhibition is limited to 100 submissions.

    A FOND FAREWELL, April 27- June 1, 2025

    This exhibition is by invitation only.

    The Gallery Committee is excited to announce our upcoming 2025 invitational exhibit, “A Fond Farewell,” marking the end of an era at our Marshall Street location. This exhibition will spotlight the remarkable works of some of our most esteemed members, serving as a tribute to their longstanding contributions to our artistic community. Scheduled to run from April 27 to June 1, 2025, this event holds special significance as our final showcase before transitioning to the new Linden Avenue venue.

    This will be a retrospective exhibition, showcasing the evolution of the artistic journey some of our long standing member/artists have taken during their tenure with the association.
