Dive into the world of Procreate® - a powerful, intuitive app designed for the iPad and beloved by both traditional and digital artists. In this engaging and hands-on workshop with artist Jim Starr, you'll explore how to use Procreate® for sketching, composing, and designing compelling images. Learn how to create digital studies, develop color palettes, and generate sketches for projection or printing - all with the potential to become finished artworks or studies for traditional pieces.

Whether you’re brand new to the application or have taken this workshop before, this class is a great opportunity to refresh your skills and continue your learning journey. Jim will guide you through the essential tools and menus, offering demonstrations and personal support as you create your own digital artwork.

You’ll walk away with a better grasp of how to use Procreate’s® professional-grade features for painting, illustration, and design - ready to apply them to your digital or traditional art practice.

 

SUPPLY LIST:  Apple iPad, preferably the iPad Pro, an Apple Pencil, and the Procreate® app downloaded from the Apple App Store. Also, please load into your iPad Photo app any images or photos or reference you want to work with in Procreate®.


JIM STARR achieved his dream of pursuing a career in art by earning a BFA in Art/Illustration from Carnegie Mellon University. For over 25 years, he has worked as a freelance illustrator, creating digital art for advertising, corporate, and editorial projects, including children's books. In addition to his work as an illustrator, Jim is a fine artist who regularly paints with traditional media and takes on commissioned projects.

Jim has continuously honed his skills, particularly in watercolor, through classes and workshops with master watercolorists. He is an active member of the Pittsburgh Illustrators Club and the PA Watercolor Society, and he holds Signature Membership in the Baltimore Watercolor Society.
