Come and learn the world of charcoal, from capturing form in still life to creating vibrant portraits.  Charcoal is an exciting dynamic medium, allowing for large, loose mark-making and precise gradients and line work.  We will explore a variety of charcoal marking and erasing techniques, including charcoal sticks, rubbing and blending. brushing loose charcoal dust, and lifting from the page with erasers, hands, and towels.

Topics will include:

- Capturing basic shadow and light shapes.

- Describing form through shadow and gradient

- Techniques for drawing loosely and dynamically

18 x 24 pad of drawing or charcoal paper
