Explore the colorful and creative world of collage art in this hands-on pop-up class focused on building your own intricate design. This class is designed to guide you through a simplified version that you can complete in class, or begin here and finish at home if you’d like to continue refining your design.
We’ll begin with a review of the materials and resources used in collage-making, followed by a clear, step-by-step verbal overview of the process. Then, you’ll watch a live demonstration before diving into crafting your own vibrant collage. Students will learn how to build layered compositions, select compelling textures and colors, and use decoupage techniques to bring their artwork to life.
Students should bring:
Small canvas board, 5x7 or 8x10; often available at dollar stores
Light-colored acrylic paints (inexpensive liquid craft paints work well)
Paintbrushes: small bristles for detail, medium for paper application, large for finishing coat
Pencil and eraser
Decoupage medium: such as Mod Podge; available at dollar stores)
Magazines with a variety of colorful images: catalog-style magazines work especially well, you will be cutting them up!
