Do you want to get started with oil painting? This Demo and Lecture style Pop-up will get you started with practical real-world materials and methods. You will be presented with information akin to what you would learn as if you were a college level art major enrolled in a college painting class, and beyond.
Questions answered include: What colors do I buy? What brand of paint should I get?; What brushes should I use? What do I use for a palette? What paint medium should I use? How do I handle oil paint? How do I clean my brushes? How do I clean my palette?
No Materials need to bring as this is a Demo Lecture style Pop-up.
Many topics involve the use of materials which can be purchased at Home Improvement Stores and Hardware Stores, or even household items. A common thread is the use of “bulk size” materials, as a cost effective method to facilitate a constant stream of painting and/or painting large size canvases. Speaking of which, building and stretching your own canvas will be covered as well.
These materials and methodologies have been learned over a lifetime of painting, beginning from first year college painting classes though forty-plus years as a professional artist and illustrator. Oil painting can be challenging, with it’s own particular idiosyncrasies. This class will give you a head start with tackling the nuts and bolts of the medium, and provide a pathway which will allow a concentration on the personal creative aspects of painting.
