Cancellation, Refund and Closure Policy
EXPRESSIVE PAINTING with Anita Williams MONDAY'S 1-4PM | ALL LEVELS | $175 M / $200 NM Learn to express yourself in this painting class structured for all levels of artists! The instructor will review basic painting techniques as well as help you to explore your painting style. More experienced artists will benefit through the weekly presentations and discussions on seeing beyond the photographic reference.
SUPPLY LIST: BRING THE MATERIALS YOU HAVE ON HAND. The following are my recommended materials. You may choose to work in oil or acrylic paint. Bring Painting Supports for class (Canvas, canvas board, gessoed watercolor paper). Please use at least a 11x14 canvas. Instructor has a few available. Palette can be paper, Plexiglass or Wood to organize paints. I like the Masterson covered palette system. Any brand of paint is acceptable. (Student grade to professional grade depending on your experience and budget)
Colors Suggested: Ultramarine blue, Pthalo blue, Sap green, Cadmium yellow medium, Cadmium red light, Dioxazine Purple, Alizarin Crimson, Titanium white, Burnt sienna. (Different brands have different spellings)
Optional Colors: Thio Violet (Grumbacher), Brilliant Yellow Light (Richeson), Naples Yellow, Indian Yellow, Burnt Umber, Radiant violet, Radiant Pink, Radiant blue.
Brushes: Bring a selection of bristle brushes including Flat, round, filberts. Synthetic mongoose brushes are ideal (I like Monarchs by Winsor & Newton). Sizes 2-12. Always start with larger brushes.
Have one or two Palette knives to move and mix paint. Mediums and Containers: I use Liquin, Galkyd Gel or Gamsol Odorless thinner for oils. Avoid harsh chemical turpentine. Water can be used for Acrylic or Acrylic matte or gloss mediums, paint retarder or extender. Empty cat food and tuna fish cans work well to hold mediums. Bring plenty of Rags or paper towels. Brush cleaner is recommended– I use Dawn dish detergent and the Masters Brush soap.
Miscellaneous: Bag to hold supplies, Jars or vases to hold brushes. Apron or painting shirt. Reference Photos: You may print your own photos, copyright free photo references or use an I-pad.
YOUTH REALISTIC DRAWING (ages 10-15) with Jessie Groft MONDAY'S 5-6:30PM | INTERMEDIATE | $100 M / $125 NM Young artists will practice realistic drawing in graphite and charcoal using a classical training approach. Focus will be on continued development of drawing skills to achieve greater accuracy and realism. Students should have a basic foundation of drawing.

WATERCOLOR I with Deb Watson TUESDAY'S 9-12PM | BEG-INT | $175 M / $200 NM Learn watercolor painting with fun and easy techniques designed to let students paint any subject with confidence, from beginners up. Each lesson has easy to follow outlines and instructions with individual attention to improve your painting skills.
SUPPLY LIST:
Bring what supplies you have for evaluation, and we'll do a group order once or twice during class if you need supplies. I'll supply any materials you may need for the first class or two.
Paint - colors to be discussed
Paper - arches 140 lb. cold pressed or your choice
Brushes - a soft wash brush and a size 6 round for detail, size 10 round optional.

WATERCOLOR II with Deb Watson TUESDAY'S 1-4PM | INT-ADV | $175 M / $200 NM Learn while you paint! Intermediate to advanced artists will learn how to get the most impact (through painting techniques and materials) to achieve watercolor realism. Start with a reference photo or outline page to trace, or draw. Then follow along step by step while you learn about the best materials and techniques to achieve glowing watercolor realism. Or bring your own work to receive help with that in this friendly and flexible class. One on one critiques will keep you moving forward where ever you are on your artistic journey.

WATERCOLOR 101 with Emily Frey TUESDAY'S 6-9PM | NEWBIES!-BEGINNERS | $215 M / $240 NM Tuition for this course includes a starter kit of student grade watercolor paints (with 18 tubes), brushes, pad of watercolor paper and storage pouch. All levels are welcome but this 6 week course will focus on beginners and the frustrated who seek deeper understanding of the basics of watercolor. We will discover why a simple concept can be so complex.
Weekly exercises will explore topics such as the importance of quality brushes, paints and paper as well as their characteristics. Traditional and experimental techniques, color theory, and value, will be applied as we learn to render form with light and shadow etc.
SUPPLY LIST: Strathmore Watercolor starter kit included with tuition.
NOTE: Registration Deadline is Monday, April 1st. so that supply kits may be ordered.
PAINTING WITH SOFT PASTELS with Kim Stone WEDNESDAY'S 1-4PM | INTERMEDIATE | $175 M / $200 NM
This class will focus on 5 elements of working in soft pastels:
1. Underpainting techniques.
2. Learning to make quick thumbnails.
3. Getting a handle on value.
4. Mark making and composition.
5. Learning to use a color wheel.
We will primarily be working from our own reference photos of landscapes with a good contrast of lights and darks. Still life will also be introduced to work on color composition.
Set of pastels of full color and value range (light to dark) of no less than 18 sticks.
5 or 6 Nupastels in neutral colors and grays
Small 5.5 x 8.5 sketchbook with toned gray or tan paper. (Strathmore is fine)
Drawing board or black gator board. 18x18 is a nice size.
Pastel boards or various sheets of pastel paper that can be brushed with wet medium without buckling, such as UArt or PasterMat. Sizes 9x12, 11x14, or 12x16.
Various landscape photos with a good contrast of darks and lights. These should ideally be photos you have taken yourself.
Soft vine charcoal; 2 or 3 graphite pencils in the B range
Kneaded eraser
White artist tape or good masking tape

TRADITIONAL PAINTING & BEYOND with Elicia Frazier WEDNESDAY'S 6-9PM | ALL LEVELS | $175 M / $200 NMWhether you are a beginner painter wanting to learn basic oil or acrylic painting processes and skills, an intermediate painter wanting more technique, or an advanced artist wanting to push your realistic skills or explore creative contemporary ideas with realism incorporated, this is the class for you. Mixed Media ideas welcomed.
We will start the first class with a Powerpoint on different approaches and techniques to oil painting, decide on personal supply ideas, gather reference concepts, brainstorm something that is perfect for you and complete an in-class artistic challenge?
You will be pushed to take your art to the next level in the direction that sparks your interest and creativity. Come with an open mind and get ready to discover endless possibilities. This class is made for the inspiring realistic artist and/or the intuitive, exploratory painter. If you like to paint, join us!

OPEN STUDIO with Chris Gold THURSDAY'S 9-12PM | ALL LEVELS | $175 M / $200 NM Whether you are looking to explore a creative outlet for the first time, hone your skills, or find a community that shares your artistic interests, this class is for you. Join us as we work independently on projects of our own choosing with feedback from the instructor and each other in a relaxed group setting. Chris is an award-winning oil painter who started painting later in life. Her informal art education was gained by taking regional professionals’ workshops and classes.

YOUTH PAINTING FOUNDATIONS (ages 12-17) with Brad Gebhart THURSDAY'S 6-8PM | ALL LEVELS | $100 M / $125 NM This beginner acrylic class is geared towards the young teen or new artist interested in delving into the world of painting. Learn about color mixing and theory; types of brushes and how to use them and the basics of acrylic paints. We will paint still life, landscapes, from photos and real life. Start your painting journey in acrylics in this fun and informative class.

CREATE YOUR OWN Manga/Anime GRAPHIC NOVEL (ages 12-17) with Brad Gebhart6/6 - 8/1, 6-8pm | Intermediate | $150 MEM / $175 NON-MEM
Time to take your Anime drawing skills to the next level! You’ve learned to draw faces, convey emotions, illustrate bodies, clothing, fantasy creatures, chibi and robots.
In previous classes we’ve touched upon action, story development and directing your own manga. In this class we will take all those skills and literally create a production ready, 3-4 page, full color story, based on your own characters. In addition, we will print a comic of all the student’s short stories into one larger manga graphic novel.
The outcome of this class will be a compilation of your comics/short stories printed for you to keep! (Physical copies will be available to each student at a later date after the workshop is completed.) This class will guide and teach you the step-by-step process in creating an actual full color comic.

All You Ever Wanted To Know About Composition…But Were Afraid to Ask! with Phyllis Disher Fredericks 6/17-6/19, 9:30-4pm | All Levels | $200 MEM / $225 NON-MEM
Is composition a mystery to you? Do you know compositional fundamentals but do not know how to put principle into practice? This three-day workshop will help demystify how to integrate good compositional techniques into your work.
Through lectures, demonstrations and simple exercises you will learn the “tools” of good composition. Artists working in all mediums and genres are welcome. This course is designed for beginning to advanced students.

DRAWING PORTRAITS with Van Pafchek 6/24-6/26, 10-2pm | All Levels | $175 MEM / $200 NON-MEM
This three-day workshop will be focused on drawing the portrait. Students will learn to identify and depict key forms related to the structure and anatomy of the head and upper body as they learn to achieve a likeness of their subject.
Techniques of sighting, drawing, and shading in the context of the portrait will be discussed and explored. In addition to drawing from a live model and other subjects, class will consist of demonstrations, group and individual critiques, practice exercises, and brief lectures.
Students of all skill level are welcome, from those who are new to the portrait to those who would like to refine existing portrait drawing skills.

Artists will learn about and engage with different reptiles each day of camp! When art and nature mix, what do you get – an awesome summer camp! Come, enjoy stripes, dots, and squiggles as we harness our artistic talents and explore live creatures great and small! Kids will get to touch, hold and interact with cuddly, furry, scaly and even feathered friends on the first day of camp. Inspired by their encounters, young artist will work on art projects on days two and three. We'll take it a notch higher for older kiddos by exploring how animals were expressed in art history from Renaissance through Pop art! On the last day they meet again with their animal friends to show off their artwork.
