LIFE & PORTRAIT DRAWING STUDIO with Van Pafchek Thursday's 1-4PM (all levels)

Yes, you can draw and paint portraits and people!  But it does take practice and time to learn! Join us for in a supportive yet instructive environment to learn, hone your skills and practice.  This will be a life drawing course featuring a cast or live model for each session. You will be encouraged to bring in and use any materials of your choosing.  You will have your own time and space to explore your image-making processes, while receiving individualized feedback. Foundational topics around life drawing will be discussed and explored including gesture drawing, value and shading techniques, general anatomy, and image composition. Class time will consist of drawing from life, brief lectures as well as group and individual critiques to help each other improve. All Model fees are included. TUITION: $225 MEM / $250 NON-MEM

SUPPLY LIST:

Bring materials of your choosing for drawing and sketching.  Items to consider include the following:

Pencils, pastel, conté, charcoal, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylics, oils, gouache, collage materials, digital media, etc.

Range of Graphite Pencils OR Vine Charcoal & Compressed Charcoal (having both of these types of charcoal would be ideal)

Kneaded eraser and standard eraser

Pencil sharpener or crafting knife

Any paper that is compatible with one’s chosen materials (watercolor paper if using watercolor)

(Optional, for gesture drawing: vine charcoal and newsprint paper)

(If Using Pencil) 14 x 17” or 18 x 24” Strathmore 400 series or Canson equivalent, white

(If Using Charcoal) 14 x 17” or 18 x 24” Charcoal or pastel paper, white
