This workshop invites young artists to explore the work of Georgia O’Keeffe through poetry, drawing, and painting. Students will begin by writing a short poem inspired by O’Keeffe’s style and subjects, from vast Southwestern landscapes to delicate flowers and striking abstract forms. They will then create their own compositions using drawing and painting techniques, experimenting with color, form, and expression while celebrating the beauty and vision of one of America’s most iconic artists.

SUPPLIES: Included. Please bring a lunch!

Karen Fornadel, M.Ed., has been a fine artist and art educator in York County for 30 years. She has taught art to children in Kindergarten through the 12th grade.  She enjoys sharing her love of drawing and painting through summer enrichment camps, portfolio preparation courses,  private art lessons, and watercolor workshops for adults.

Her portfolio of artwork focuses on nature. The beauty of landscapes, floral forms, and artwork by Georgia O’Keeffe and Edouard Manet inspire her. She loves to explore light, shadow, and color through various artistic media, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, and pastels.

Karen's artwork has been featured in exhibits at Creative York, York College’s Galleries, Gallery@227, the Hanover Area Arts Guild, and the York Art Association.
