Join us for a 4-week watercolor course designed for beginners and those looking to enhance their skills and develop their unique style. We will start with the fundamentals, including the 3-Value Method. Each week, we will paint together using the same reference image, following step-by-step demonstrations.

Watercolor Fundamentals and the 3 Value Method

1. Watercolor Pads or Block Paper- look for 100% cotton rag paper- 9”x12” or larger

2. Brushes

4. 2B Pencils or Lead Holder Pencil

5. Covered Watercolor Palette

8. Watercolor Paints in Tubes (15 ml size)

    JIM STARR achieved his dream of pursuing a career in art by earning a BFA in Art/Illustration from Carnegie Mellon University. For over 25 years, he has worked as a freelance illustrator, creating digital art for advertising, corporate, and editorial projects, including children's books. In addition to his work as an illustrator, Jim is a fine artist who regularly paints with traditional media and takes on commissioned projects.

    Jim has continuously honed his skills, particularly in watercolor, through classes and workshops with master watercolorists. He is an active member of the Pittsburgh Illustrators Club and the PA Watercolor Society, and he holds Signature Membership in the Baltimore Watercolor Society.
